The Space makes room for all the arts online
Now live and online is The Space, the new "freely available digital arts space" developed by Arts Council England in partnership with the BBC. Over the next 6 months, The Space will showcase high-profile arts events from across the UK, adding new material daily to highlight the breadth of work being presented in the Cultural Olympiad, Diamond Jubilee celebrations, World Shakespeare Festival etc. The Space is pioneering a commissioning model in which artists and organisations can film or create work especially for the major digital platforms, including tablets, smartphones, computers and connected TV. May highlights will include full performances from the Globe To Globe season at the Globe Theatre, opera and dance from the Southbank Centre and Sadler's Wells, historic material from the BFI National Archive and Arts Council Film Collection, and the first of a series of visits to the mysteries of the late John Peel's record collection.
