West Side Story (4–7 July 2012) produced by The Sage Gateshead in association with the RSC’s Open Stages, a full-scale production of Bern stein’s classic musical featuring a cast of professional as well as new andemerging talent, selected from across the region and beyond. Directed andchoreographed by Will Tuckett with the Northern Sinfonia conducted by Gat eshead-born and critically acclaimed conductor John Wilson. This is the fi rst time the musical has been re-choreographed with new dance, instead of the legendary Jerome Robbins choreography.
