Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata in F minor, Op.57 (Appassionata)
Ingrid Fliter found herself catapulted unexpectedly into the limelight when she was given the prestigious Gilmore Award in 2006 - a prize awarded every two years to a rising piano star. Since then the grace and poetry of her playing have enchanted listeners the world over.
In this recital, her first appearance in the International Piano Series, she devotes her programme entirely to Beethoven, exploring the composer's limitless inventiveness from the stormy Appassionata and questing Tempest sonatas (the latter thought to have been inspired in part by Shakespeare's play) to the playful Op.31 No.3, sometimes known as 'The Hunt'.
