The exhibition explores early photography from the mid-19th cen tury and the most exciting contemporary photographs, alongside historical painting. It takes a provocative look at how photographers use fine art tra ditions, including Old Master painting, to explore and justify the possib ilities of their art. Until 20 Jan Work by leading photographers such asMartin Parr, Craigie Horsfield, Sam Taylor-Wood, Richard Billingham, J ulia Margaret Cameron and Gustave Le Gray will be on display beside key pai ntings from the National Gallery collection.
