Until 20 January 2013 William Klein’s films are a major bodyof work as remarkable and groundbreaking as his acclaimed photographic oeu vre. From Broadway by Light, his directorial debut in 1958, Klein scripte d, directed and designed irreverent satires addressing themes as varied asmainstream media, high fashion (Who Are You, Polly Maggoo?, 1966), wor ld imperialism (Mr. Freedom, 1969) and biopolitics (The Model Couple, 197 5). He also authored a number of captivating documentaries, and collaborat ed with the likes of filmmakers Chris Marker and Louis Malle.
