Music Theatre Wales More than 20 years before the film and p lay The Madness of George III caught the public’s imagination, composer Si r Peter Maxwell Davies immortalised the monarch’s descent into dementia anddelusion in Eight Songs for a Mad King - a classic piece of music theatre and a disturbing and poignant portrayal of madness. Welsh baritone Kelvin T homas reprises the virtuoso lead role that he has made his own in productio ns across the world. Eight Songs is performed alongside Vasco Mendonça’scompelling new setting of Samuel Beckett’s monologue Ping.
