Britain's first site for professional arts journalists launches into webspace

Welcome to the first professionally produced arts critical website in Britain, theartsdesk.com, a new space for reviews and features about all the arts from live to recorded. Attendance at live music, galleries, theatres and other arts events has never been higher, and even seems to be increasing, but print arts coverage is in decline. We want to reflect the health of the arts scene and the potential of the web with a new kind of coverage.

theartsdesk.com will bring you arts writing and visuals of highest quality with the speed and scope of the net to reach out widely and dig down deeply. We aim to satisfy a new range of taste and interests not possible in newspapers, more personal, more individual, to include everyone with an internet connection in enjoyment of the arts, however remote they may be. Our coverage will include international culture and major regional arts, as well as all that London can offer.

Ladies and Gents, thrice welcome all round! Looking through the first postings here, I'd say that, over time, your site looks like it could provide a most valuable archive on so many topics. I hope you've found a sustainable economic model to keep it going!

i can assure you it looks bloody awful in i.e. 6, which i KNOW is an out-of-date browser, but you try getting my work (and plenty of other people's) to upgrade. it's *still* 25% of the market according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Msieshare1

There is no description of what you are on the Home page, only a tab Who's Who. I am too old to realise that I have to press 'buzz' to find out what I want to know in 'A New Space for Arts Writing'. Now I know your background. I have enjoyed looking at it and wish you well but think you'll gather more followers if you move the description to the home page. Jean Symons
