Music & Business Events

Salary range: £42,470 - £48,510 pa inclusive of London Weighting, depending on experience/performance

The Barbican Centre is a world-class arts and conference venue, presenting an unrivalled international artistic programme across all art forms and offering facilities for hosting a wide range of business events e.g. conferences, AGMs and graduations.

On completion of a merger of the Music and Commercial Technical teams, we are now looking for an experienced Senior Technical Manager to lead the team. In your role you will work closely with the Head of Music and the General Manger (Business Events) to ensure that all art and business events hosted in the concert hall receive consistent high-standard technical support. You will focus on integration of the technical teams, and will drive forward the development of technical knowledge and skills within the department. You will manage the overall day-to-day operation of the Concert Hall, plan maintenance works and will ensure compliance with H&S and other legislative requirements. You will also oversee business activities in other spaces and will contribute significantly to the Business Events strategy to ensure that we maximize income from our commercial activity.

Having already worked for a multi-disciplinary arts venue, major music venue or an events company in a senior technical role, you will be highly experienced in managing and motivating complex technical teams. You will be an expert in one or more of the following disciplines: lighting, sound, video or film technology, and will have a good understanding of all aspects of technical delivery for an event. You will have excellent communication and influencing skills, and a good track record of building strong relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues from other departments and external organizations. You will also feel confident managing budgets, legal compliance matters as well as delivering concert hall projects.
