Young Trustee
3 year voluntary position
Leicester Theatre Trust (LTT) has an exciting opportunity for a young person aged between 17 – 24 years to join our Board as a Young Trustee at Curve, Leicester’s major producing theatre. Committed to arts, education, cultural diversity and equal opportunity we use our unique home and talent to entertain, inspire and engage with a modern diverse audience and play a leading role in the development of our industry and our city.
This position is a voluntary, unpaid position for a 3 year seat on the Board, and ideally the young person who is successful will reside in Leicester or Leicestershire for the duration of their tenure. In the case that the Young Trustee moves away from the area during their tenure they must resign from their post and a new Young Trustee will be appointed.
The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to the arts and will have had a prior relationship with Curve, whether that is as an audience member or a participant. As a member of the Board the Young Trustee will be responsible for ensuring that Curve is delivering the charitable objectives for which it was established, and for representing young people currently engaged with Curve, and in the broader community, to the Board.
The Young Trustee must be educated to at least A’ level standard or equivalent and will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to articulate structured well-formed views and liaise with stakeholders at all levels. The successful applicant will be willing to commit to the role and responsibility of being a charity trustee and will preferably have previous experience of committee membership.
Applicants will also be considered for the role of Observer of the Board, with a view to becoming a Young Trustee in the future.
