Dr Ismene Brown designed and launched the original version of The Arts Desk in 2009, and was the Site Coordinator and a board director for three years, as well as its dance editor. A musician trained at the Royal College of Music, she has been dance critic for the Daily Telegraph and the Spectator, and has also written for TAD on classical music, theatre, TV and film. Since then she has gained an MA at UCL and DPhil at Oxford University for work on the Soviet politician and arts minister Ekaterina Furtseva.

Veronica is an award-winning writer and critic who contributes on theatre and comedy to the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Observer and London Evening Standard.

Peter is a music and arts broadcaster and has written for the Observer, Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Songlines, among others in the UK and internationally. He has written a recently published book Clandestino: In Search Of Manu Chao published by Serpent's Tail and has produced and compiled numerous CDs. He was a founding Director of theartsdesk, and is co-editor of the New Music section.

Demetrios Matheou is a London-based journalist, critic and author. He was the chief film critic for The Sunday Herald in Glasgow between 2004-18, and a contributing film critic for The Independent on Sunday between 2000-2016. He’s currently published in The Times, The Standard, The i, Sight and Sound and Screen Daily, among others. He is also a London theatre critic for The Hollywood Reporter. Demetrios is the author of The Faber Book of New South American Cinema, while contributing to a number of other film titles. He co-curated the retrospective season South American Renaissance for The BFI South Bank and co-founded the London Argentine Film Festival. He's served on the juries of a number of international film festivals.

Nick Hasted has been a film journalist since 1986. As well as The Arts Desk, he currently writes about film, music, books and comics for The Independent, Uncut, Jazzwise and Classic Rock. He has published three books: The Dark Story of Eminem (2002), You Really Got Me: The Story of The Kinks (2011), and Jack White: How He Built An Empire From The Blues (2016).

Joe writes regularly for FACT, The Wire and Mixmag, specialising in electronic music and the anything-but-grey areas where genres and media dissolve into one another.

Alexandra is the classical music critic of the New Statesman, and has written on arts for The Times, The Independent, The Guardian, Prospect, Gramophone, Opera Now, The Oxford Times and The Monthly. She was formerly Performing Arts Editor at Time Out, Sydney. She writes about classical music, theatre and film for theartsdesk.
